Healdsburg

Healdsburg is one of the premier wine country destinations in all of Napa and Sonoma Counties. With high end boutique shops, fine dining and winery tasting rooms surrounding the town plaza it is easy to see why this once quiet town has become such a must visit location. The town of Healdsburg is filled with charm from some of the more rustic / remodeled storefronts to the newer contemporary hotels and restaurants in the immediate downtown area. Aside from the abundance of creature comforts of town, Healdsburg sits at the crossroads of several world famous and distinct wine grape growing regions: The Russian River Appellation, Dry Creek Appellation, and the Alexander Valley Appellation. For the wine connoisseur Healdsburg provides easy access to world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Russian River region, sought after Zinfandel and more recently Cabernet Sauvignon from the Dry Creek Area, and numerous Bordeaux varietals throughout the Alexander Valley.

Like most other wine country towns Healdsburg has a small local population, in 2010 the population was just above 11,000. In 1867 Healdsburg was incorporated by business man Harmon Heald, originally from Ohio. The Russian River weaves in, about, and throughout the area on its way to the Pacific Ocean. One of the great resources of the area is Lake Sonoma located at the northwest end of Dry Creek Valley. Lake Sonoma is used for water storage as well as boating and recreation.
